Saved places has been useful for some of our users, but it has not been updated in a while, and is not as easy to use as it was supposed to be. Feedback also shows that it’s more confusing than useful to most. We’ve therefore decided to remove the feature.
A better option
Instead of using time to make saved places better, we’ve decided to instead use a feature we already have. All existing saved places will be moved to a new list today, which will ensure that they stay available.
This has a couple obvious advantages:
- You can share your saved places with other users and/or groups
- You can add comments as well (which saved places didn’t support)
- You can group the saved places in various lists based on for example type or location
- All list tools, like copying, moving and adding from map, will work
Improved adding of new waypoints
To make it even better, we upgraded the “Add waypoint” dialog a couple months ago.
When you start writing in the field for waypoint name, cachetur will automatically search through waypoints in your old trips and lists (including the new saved places list). All you have to do, is click on the waypoints you want to add, and then click the blue “Add waypoint” button to add it.
We hope this will be less confusing and more helpful than the old feature was.
