…but there’s still help to get if you need it!
Even though Clippy was this year’s April Fools joke, there was an element of truth in the blog post. Some people seem to expect that cachetur.no magically will both know which caches they want to find, and plan their trips for them. This is not how cachetur.no work. Cachetur.no is not a magical tool, that will do all the work for you.
Cachetur.no is a tool that will help you in a lot of ways, but you still have to decide yourself which caches you want to find. After all, only you know what you like to find. We are working hard to provide the best tools we can, to make it easier for you. And if you collaborate with other geocachers (geocaching is more fun when done with other people anyway), you might even get them to plan the trip for you 😉
We’re here if you need us!
Even though Clippy has gone away, we’re still here – a dedicated team of ambassadors and a developer, is ready to answer all questions you send our way (but you will get the best answers if you ask us about cachetur.no 😉 ).
Don’t be afraid to send us a message – no questions are as stupid as those that don’t get asked!
Clippy is free
Clippy didn’t cost us a dime, and you can play with him yourself if you want to. Have a look at https://www.smore.com/clippy-js.
But running cachetur.no, is not free. Everything cost money, and we are completly dependent on voluntary donations from our users (and geocaching associations/organisations). So the next time you see one of our contributors, say thanks – we wouldn’t have been anything without these nice folks!
Clippy did’t do much while he was on our site, because tracking like that is not something we want to do (the same goes for all other kinds of tracking, and other nasty tricks). Cachetur.no should be (and is) a safe site to visit.
