This blog post is our monthly(-ish) newsletter style blog post. Cachetur.no has always been open, and to ensure that we stay open we want to use this newsletter to share information about what’s going on.
Recent changes
We have started utilizing some new parts of the API, and added support for import of geocaching friends. Right now, friends are only visible on the cachetur geocache detail page, but we intend to grow the feature over the coming weeks.
Since you often start the next subtrip on the same waypoint you ended the previous subtrip on, we’ve added a “Clone to next subtrip” feature.
We have refurbished the trip template gallery, and added new search and filter functions.
We have merged the old notification settings with the general settings, and improved the display of settings. Cache change notifications can now be turned on/off separately for trips and lists.
We have added the option for invitees to decline invitations, and remove their own access to trips/lists.
We have added support for sector calculations for multiple 360° challenges.
We have also added a new tool to help add caches from (several) lists to a trip, with everything displayed on one map.
Various bugs have been fixed, and we’ve added new bugs to fix later.
The full changelog is available here.
Things we’re working on now
We are continuing to work around the issues with the new API in parallel with trying to get issues resolved with Groundspeak. Even though we’re still operating at a reduced level, things seem to be relatively stable now.
We are also working on the next version of the app, where we focus on completing the checklist feature, adding more information and doing some general improvements.
The Cachetur Community will be removed in 1-2 months, and we are working on replacing it with our other support channels (Slack is awesome).
We feel we are a lot smaller than we should have been in both Germany and the UK (fewer than 100 users in each country), so we are actively working on ways to improve our German/UK user growth. If you have any ideas, please share them with us!
Things we intend to work on soon
We intend to start working on getting the most out of the geocaching friends data soon.
And we hope to finally be able to finish the API upgrade, and switch to the new authentication. But we have done all we can, we just have to wait for Groundspeak to fix the issues on their end.

Our economy
Running cachetur.no require a constant focus on our expenses, we want to provide you the best service we can, but we can’t consume more services than we are able to pay for.
2019 started very well, but have slowed down considerably. We hope people will renew their support this year, cachetur.no depends on it.
Remember that all of us that work on this site (and app), including developer and all ambassadors, do this for free in our spare time. Cachetur.no does not pay anyone 🙂 Positive feedback is the only pay we get, so please, do give us the feedback you think we deserve.
