For almost a year ago (minus a couple days), we reached 3 000 users. Today, at 7:11pm Central European Time, user number 4 000 signed up!
The following graph shows the user growth since the start:
And this one shows the growth the last year:
Internationalization
The grown in Norway (our home country) has decreased, which is natural given the general decrease in geocaching activity.
A few months ago, we made cachetur.no available internationally, in several languages. The result is clearly visible in the graph above. Most new users the last three-four months, come from outside Norway. We are becoming an internationally recognized tool.
And that mostly thanks to you, our users – the ones that actually use the tools we make. All of you early adopters, everyone that talks about us, everyone that tells their friends about us, everyone that hosts events to teach others about cachetur.no and all of you that encourage us to expand and grow.
Thank you!
Thanks to our contributors
Cachetur.no, just like any other site, have a lot of expenses. And we could have seen a huge increase in those when we started the internationalization process. But thanks to the awesome folks at LingoHub, our translation tool, we don’t pay anything for that tool. We don’t pay anything for WPML either, which is the plugin we use to make our blog multi lingual.
But even though we get a lot of software for free, or discounted, we still have a lot of expenses left. And we’re able to pay them all, thanks to users that contribute financially. Users, geocaching associations, geocaching shops and others that voluntarily donate money to keep us running – so that we can give everything away for free! Truly awesome people!
It’s thanks to these awesome people, that we have enough financial leeway to keep growing, like we have during the last years.
Thank you!
Do you want to contribute?
Keep talking about cachetur.no! Mention us in logs, host events, and give us your feedback! We really appreciate all feedback we get! Even if it’s just a thumbs up, at least you’re telling us that we’re doing something right 🙂
You can read about the different ways to contribute here.
Do you want to contribute financially? You can do that through PayPal.
Click on the picture above, or here, to donate via PayPal. Please remember to add a comment with your username, so that we can add you to the list of contributors (tell us if you don’t want to be added).
We have configured the donation link to use Norwegian Kroner, which is the currency we use. Keeping everything in that currency, eliminates the need for multiple accounts and keeps the exchange fee costs down for us.
We used to recommend a minimum donation of 200NOK, which is roughly $25 / €20. But we have removed that text now, since we think a small donation is much better than no donation 😉 If you want to donate, you decide yourself how much 🙂
